Course description |
Theory and practical sessions on modern laboratory techniques in animal sciences, including mammalian and prokaryotic cell culture, manipluation of DNA, RNA and protein.
Students will develop and enhance their understanding and experience with essential laboratory techniques. Upon completion students will have reached the learning outcomes.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- design an experiment, develop hypotheses, understand appropriate experimental controls, recording and analysis of data;
- prepare reagents, carry out assay techniques, use microscopes and laboratory equipment;
- understand and have experience of cell culture and microbiology;
- perform a bioinformatics analysis and use publicly available databases;
- understand modern immunological methods, genetic manipulations, molecular biology techniques.
