Summary | This course introduces students to important concepts within professional education. It considers the educational theory which underpins professional education and examines currently employed models. The analogies of education both as a product and process are considered. The course is designed to allow students to make explicit links to their own professional area, conceptualising professional education as beyond the competency focus of many vocational undergraduate degree programmes. Developing the adaptability required when applying professional knowledge to new and complex situations. |
Course description |
The course will be delivered online to a wide range of working professionals who have an interest in teaching.
Design and delivery will focus on building an academic community and allowing students to share experiences, establish shared understanding and make explicit links between the academic learning and their professional workplace. A variety of theoretical lenses will be employed to critique professional education policies, environments and practices.
