Summary | This course focuses on the challenges of designing an interior intervention into an existing building over multiple floors. |
Course description |
Using an existing medium-size multi-storey space, students will be asked to analyse, and redesign this space for a new function. They will be expected to establish a brief in order to respond to the potential client¿s needs.
Students will prepare scheme design proposals in sketch and exploratory model form for discussion. During this iterative process they will prepare final proposals in drawing form, to scale, for submission.

Other requirements | If this course is Core to your programme, you will automatically be enrolled. For all other students, it is recommended students have completed either Interior Design 1a or 1b prior to starting this course. Students should be aware this course builds on earlier skills, and is not an entrance level course. Previous experience and knowledge of Interior Design at H.E level is required. If in doubt please contact the Course Organiser in advance of signing up for this course. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Investigate and demonstrate the use of an appropriate range of practical, material and theoretical research methods in relation to the building and its existing and proposed use.
- Develop and evaluate core interior architectural design theories and applications in relation to the new use of the building, and its relationship with the existing building.
- Present knowledge, skills and understanding of the design solution in a graphically coherent way.
