Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will
* have explored a number of key texts in the Qur'an and have obtained an overview of its developing themes from Meccan to Medinan periods;
* be familiar with a range of types of Qur'anic texts, their various styles and themes;
* have learnt about the place of the Qur'an in Muslim life and will have studied the different approaches to the interpretation of the Qur'an of a range of Muslim and western scholars;
* have explored some of the issues in the interface between Islam and other faiths, especially Christianity;
* be able to demonstrate an ability to identify key terms and their meanings;
* be able to demonstrate good judgement about how to judge the relative importance of items on course bibliographies.
