SummaryStrategic sport planning will include consideration of the concepts of strategy and patterns of strategy development, using theoretical models of strategic planning. It will consider how strategies are developed and implemented in sport and recreation. Attention will be drawn to specific case studies and strategic appraisal in sport and recreation agencies will be undertaken.

By the end of this module students will be able to:
-Assess the nature of strategic planning in the management of any organisation.
-Appraise the management implications of strategy implementation and control.
-Analyse the problems of managing strategic change.
-Apply strategic planning to case studies drawn from a range of sport and recreation organisations in the public, commercial and voluntary sectors.
