Pre-requisites | Visiting students should usually have at least 3 Economics courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. This MUST INCLUDE courses in both Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. We will only consider University/College level courses. |

Learning Outcomes
1. A general understanding of the problems faced by the Jewish people at the beginning of the modern era and why Zionism arose as one possible solution.
2. A particular knowledge of the way in which the Zionist movement was organised and how it eventually succeeded in founding the state of Israel.
3. An understanding of the various ideological trends within the State of Israel and especially the role of religion within the State.
4. A general knowledge of the role played in the establishment of the State by the revival of the Hebrew language and the literature based on it.
5. An awareness of the complexities of the Israeli-Arab conflict and a sympathetic understanding of the positions of both sides in the dispute.
6. Improved their skills at essay writing, presenting seminar papers and verbal debate, and critical appreciation of the visual media.
7. A demonstrable ability to identify key terms and their meanings.
8. Demonstrable good judgement about how to judge the relative importance of items on course bibliographies.
