Summary | The course provides postgraduate students with a close study of Greek vases - their variety, manufacture, use, and most especially their imagery, which yields valuable information regarding many aspects of Greek myth and culture (including, religion, politics, gender relations, everyday life), and the varied methods of interpreting imagery. Special emphasis will be on Attic pottery, but Korinthian, Lakonian, East Greek, South Italian, and Sicilian will also be examined. |

Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this course, students will have gained a thorough and extensive knowledge of Greek vase painting and of iconographical and iconological methodology.Students will refine analytical skills, their ability to understand and interpret what they see, and craft and express an argument in written form in and oral form through oral presentations, discussions, and a research paper.
