Summary | This course will deal with aspects of protein structure determination using multiple techniques including protein crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance and electron microscopy. In addition lectures showing how multiple techniques can be combined and on developing approaches to structural elucidation will be given. |

Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students should have:
Overall: an overview of the major techniques used for protein structure determination, with a more detailed understanding of X-Ray diffraction and the use of Nuclear Magnetic resonance in structural determination
Specifically: an understanding of crystal preparation and X-ray data collection, X-ray data reduction, methods for phase determination, electron density map calculation and interpretation.
An understanding of methods for peak assignment and distance constraint determination in NMR.
An overview of sample preparation and data collection in Electron Microscopy.
