| Summary | This course critically examines current approaches in health promotion and in particular will consider needs assessment, appraising the evidence for effective interventions, systematic approach to health promotion planning, and evaluating health promotion programmes. |
| Course description |
The course is designed to complement the theoretical foundations of health promotion that the students achieved in Health and Society 1A and Health and Society 2A. The course develops the core competencies of health promotion practice: needs assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion programmes.

Learning Outcomes
To develop:
- a critical awareness of the relationship between the theory and practice of health promotion
- the ability to develop core health promotion practice competencies in relation to needs assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a health event
- the ability to apply theory to practice in the context of an actual health promoting event.
