Summary | This course gives students the opportunity to take advantage of specialist courses offered in music or in other areas of the university. It allows them to deepen their knowledge in an existing area or to broaden their learning into an area not covered in their undergraduate study. In consultation with the MMus programme organiser students choose a 20-credit honours undergraduate course in music or in another relevant area, normally in semester 1. They attend seminars and any other teaching activities associated with this course and negotiate an individual learning contract with the relevant course organiser. This learning contract, which will be submitted in written form in the first few weeks of the course, will ensure that learning outcomes and assessment are at the appropriate Master level. *Where there is not an appropriate level 10 course to form the basis of the NTC, with the approval of the course organiser, a level 11 course may be chosen. In such cases the Individual Learning Contract is not required.* |

They will have reflected on their learning and negotiated their own learning contract which will allow them to produce work at the appropriate Masters level. They will have prepared a research paper or equivalent on a topic of their choice related to their chosen subject.
