Students will be introduced to historical documents, prints and manuscripts and will be made familiar with the surviving musical repertory by both Scottish-born and adopted composers.
Edinburgh is naturally very rich in primary materials for this course and it is intended that students will be able to make some use of music manuscripts, archival documents, newspapers etc. held in the University Library, the National Library of Scotland, the National Archives of Scotland as well as Edinburgh Central Library.
