This course provides the opportunity for students to develop skills and visual vocabulary to make a series of studies and paintings which explore the use of images and illusion using a range of traditional as well as experimental techniques. Visual ideas will be stimulated through ¿point of reference¿ observed set ups as well as exploring students¿ own particular visual ideas and circumstances as subject matter. This will include working from still life, the figure, interiors, cityscapes, narratives and from students¿ own research to explore compositional and pictorial devices, uses of tone and colour and the application of paint and mixed media to make a series of resolved paintings. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- RESEARCH
demonstrate a range of approaches to recording images and developing personal ideas using painting and mixed media techniques
- PRACTICE
create a series of image-based paintings which demonstrate a developing use of techniques which consider composition, tone, colour and personal exploration
- PRESENT
consider research and media exploration to present and select a coherent body of work.
