Summary | THIS IS A FOR-CREDIT COURSE OFFERED BY THE OFFICE OF LIFELONG LEARNING (OLL); ONLY STUDENTS REGISTERED WITH OLL SHOULD BE ENROLLED.
Working both ¿on location¿ and within the studio environment, this course introduces ways to use a sketchbook as an effective tool to record visual images and ideas and develop a personal visual language using a range of media and techniques. The course informs students as to how a sketchbook can be used to record impressions, ideas, drawings and notes, revealing over time where individual interests lie. Students will be helped to understand how a sketchbook can ¿talk back¿ and act as a reminder of previous experiences or sets of ideas. |

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, through attending classes and engaging in directed and independent study, students should be able to:
RESEARCH
make coherent use of a sketchbook to record, develop and reflect on visual ideas, images and research;
PRACTICE
be effective in the uses of a range drawing, painting and mixed media techniques both within a sketchbook and in development studies
PRESENT
present a range of directed lines of enquiry and insightful reflection in the selection and editing of visual ideas.
