This course will introduce ways which students can develop artworks beyond paint alone and to introduce the use of mixed media to create images which explore not just colour and shape but also surface and texture. Students will be encouraged to experiment, perhaps moving beyond a two-dimensional surface, finding the boundaries between painting and sculpture. The emphasis will be discovery and experimentation.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. RESEARCH
    develop ideas and strategies through the process of drawing to discover themes and subjects to research and develop for mixed media artworks
  2. PRACTICE
    extend mark making, drawing and mixed media techniques to develop a confident and personal approach to making mixed media artworks
  3. PRESENT
    develop, present and select a considered range of original mixed media art works
