This course introduces students to the basic technical skills necessary to design and print furnishing or fashion fabric. Using a contemporary colour palette, students will become familiar with various screen-printing techniques and consider the creative process from initial research and drawings through to a printed fabric. They will prepare a screen and expose a selection of their own patterns and images onto it.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, through attending classes and engaging in directed and independent study, students should be able to:

RESEARCH
research, develop and design informed visual ideas suitable for printed textiles works;

PRACTICE
consider the language of colour, image and pattern applied to a range of printed textiles techniques and process;

PRESENT
produce and print a range of their own designs onto different fabrics or wearable garments.
