Summary | The course will begin with a study of the historical and linguistic context
of medieval Iceland. It will than proceed to the development of a basic
reading knowledge of Old Icelandic texts and a study of grammar. A selection
of texts will be close-read, including extracts from Snorri Sturluson's Edda
and Ari Thorgilsson's Libellus Islandorum.
