Summary | The Early Years placement course provides a context for students to extend and apply their learning about the curriculum, policies, principles and contexts of early years education. They are also expected to develop collaborative working practices in a Community of Practice approach (Wenger). To facilitate this students are placed, where possible, in placement A classes in pairs. Students are prepared for this placement through their experience of the Preparing for Teaching (Early and First Level Education) course and by engaging in Practicum classes that consider the application of pedagogical theory in the classroom. The experiential pre-school and the infant placement together provide a coherent experience of and engagement in early childhood education. |
