Summary	The Secondary Education 3(b) Course helps students to continue the reflective process begun in the Secondary Education 1(b) and 2(b) Courses. The main topics covered are: Knowledge of subject curriculum Curriculum design and development in planning, implementation, evaluation Environment Social justice Cross-curricular roles and responsibilities Review of learning objectives Preparation for Induction Year The course takes account of recent policy changes that present the curriculum for the secondary school sector. While acknowledging the importance of continuity, coherence and progression in learning for all children across the diversity of settings that exist in secondary education provision in Scotland, it also embraces the new curriculum principles, that underpin a Curriculum for Excellence.

Additional Information (Assessment)	For the Professional Studies Strand, students will complete a Professional Investigation Task (PIT), which will be summatively assessed. For the Curriculum Studies Strand, students will be assessed on their Professional Development Portfolio. This assessment is directly related to the Benchmark Areas. This task will be summatively assessed The Professional Studies task is weighted at one third. Each Curriculum Studies task is weighted at one third.
