Summary | This half-course Senior Honours option comprises the first term of the full-course option Econometrics. The half-course begins with a preliminary review of statistics and basic matrix algebra. Econometrics topics covered include: classical OLS estimation and inference; maximum likelihood estimation and inference; disturbance problems and generalized least squares (heteroskedasticity; autocorrelation; semmingly unrelated regression; diagnostic tests); Instrumental variables (IV) and GMM estimation. |

Learning Outcomes
- A deeper understanding of the possibilities and limitations of standard econometric methods and models than is provided in the Introductory Econometrics half-course;
- provide a sound basis for further more advanced study of econometrics on graduate programmes;
- enable students to use econometric methods intelligently with an understanding of their appropriateness and limitations.
