Additional Information (Assessment) |
Students are active partners in their placement arrangements. They negotiate the particular learning needs for their placements with placement managers and academic staff and have multiple opportunities to offer feedback and evaluate their placement experience.
Professional partners ¿ placement managers, professional mentors and practice supervisors ¿ also meet regularly with academic staff to review placements and how they work to provide suitable practice learning opportunities for students.
The Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice Development Manager (based in the University) oversees the approval process for placements and practice supervisors, consults with students on their placement choices and experiences and works to resolve any problems or difficulties that arise in placement arrangements.
Professional practice is assessed according to the professional competency framework stipulated by COSCA, professional accrediting body. Students receive formative and summative assessment through practice supervision and work with professional partners, supported by programme tutors. Successful completion of practice hours is confirmed by professional partners (agency managers, professional mentors and practice supervisors) and programme tutors. Students maintain a professional log of all practice hours, and individual and group supervision meetings.
The Counselling and Psychotherapy Placement courses are assessed as PASS/FAIL only.
