Summary | This course provides an introduction to the theory and practice of education and training in counselling. Offering an examination of the educational and conceptual tools required of trainers and students of counselling and psychotherapy, each session will comprise tutor input, experiential work and practice sessions in the main training modalities¿ self awareness, development of practice, small and large group facilitation, experiential learning, practice development and research. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and analyse the distinctive features of counsellor education and training.
- Critically assess the function and development of self awareness, practice development, theoretical engagement and research as key tenets in counsellor education and training.
- Critically examine the educational value of didactic teaching, experiential learning, group work and practice related workshops as learning sites for counsellor education and training.
- Analyse issues of difference, diversity and power in the practice of counselling training.
- Develop practice skills as counselling educators.
