Summary	Students must gain an overall pass of 50% or above at interim assessment in order to proceed to dissertation. Candidates who gain between 40% and 49% at interim assessment will be awarded the Diploma. The dissertation will be 15,000 words in length (excluding the bibliography). Students will receive regular supervision and will be expected to submit a detailed plan and at least one draft of their dissertation to their supervisor. The dissertation topic must be approved by the dissertation supervisor. The dissertation may consist of an extended exercise in practical translation with commentary, a critical evaluation of an existing translation or translations, an exploration of a topic in Translation Studies, or any meaningful combination of these.
