Summary | This course examines the mechanisms that are associated with the development of inflammatory disease. The inflammatory processes that lead to development of inflammatory disease in the nervous system, liver, lung and kidney will be considered. Potential therapeutic strategies will be discussed in the context of our understanding of the cellular and molecular basis of inflammation. The course will have a combination of seminar-based teaching and student-led moderated discussion sessions to develop the main teaching themes. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- A series of lectures and tutorials covering the academic discipline of innate immunity, complementing and providing breadth and depth to the laboratory research
- Full time 20 week laboratory research project in inflammatory disease, complemented with a lecture and tutorial programme
