SummaryThis course explores the interactions between organisms, the dynamics of populations and the environment. It deals with animal, plant and pathogenic organisms, and the structuring and function of communities and aims to develop both a quantitative and qualitative understanding of interactions between organisms and their consequences. The course consists of about 24 lectures and several extended practicals lasting two to three weeks.

Additional Information (Assessment) Two items of in-course assessment: Two 2000 word reports on material from the Computer Modelling Practical (Owl metapopulation) and the Lab Practical (Microorganism diversity in peat bogs).

One 2 hour exam. Answer 3 of 6 questions.
Feedback Detailed printed feedback of about 2 pages is given for each of the two assessed reports.
Prior to hand in of the reports there are two sessions to go through what is expected in the reports.
Exam script feedback session in ILW in Semester 2.
