Course description | The course will examine different ancient theories of being. We discuss some Presocratic approaches to the problem of being (notably, Heraclitus and Parmenides), Plato's theory of forms and Aristotle's theory of substance, and the ontologies of the most prominent Hellenistic schools (Epicurean, Stoic and Sceptic). |
