`The Scope of Literature: the study of a range of literature written between 1700 and 1850, with an emphasis on 1) literary kinds, movements and contexts, and 2) a variety of claims regarding literature's capacities and limits.`

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete the course will develop an enhanced ability to read individual texts in the light of historical, theoretical and linguistic contexts.

Assessment Information

1 exam essay at the end of semester one (50%), 2 essays of up to 2,000 words (40%), tutorial assessment (10%).
