Students will gain an understanding of the historical development of literature within national cultural contexts; a grasp of the development of theoretical approaches to literature and criticism; an understanding of the ways in which literature can be explored through associated disciplines such as history, philosophy, and the literatures of other languages
Assessment Information
4 essays (2000 words at 10% each) 40%, plus tutorial assessment 10% = class work 50%. Two degree exams 50%.
