Neronian and Flavian Epic (VS1) (U03394)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : HCL-3-VS1-NRFLV This course introduces students to important texts in Roman poetry of the first century AD. It involves the reading of a selection of passages from the extant epics of the Neronian and Flavian eras: Lucan's "Bellum Civile", Valerius Flaccus' "Argonautica", Silius Italicus' "Punica", and Statius' "Thebaid" and "Achilleid". It uses H. M. Currie's Silver Latin Epic (Bristol Classical Press) as a textbook. Entry Requirements? This course is only available to part year visiting students. ? This course is a variant of the following course : U03341 ? Pre-requisites : Appropriate experience in Latin language and literature, at the discretion of the course organiser.
