Acronym : ACE-1-A1B The course consists of two modules: (a) The Growth of Complexity - technological and economic complexity, especially metal-working, social complexity and hierarchies, and cultural complexity, ritual and monument-building; (b) The Archaeology of Early Civilizations - the emergence of urbanism and early states in the Middle East and east Mediterranean, early Mediterranean civilizations and the Iron Age societies of temperate Europe. Assessment Information
Two essays (50%), exam (50%); min grade E in degree exam (May). Exemption from deg. exam on basis of performance in Archaeology 1A and coursework for 1B.
