Italian Language Level 2 B (IT0005)

This course is intended for students who have successfully completed Italian Language Level 1 or have reached an equivalent standard (Standard Grade/GCSE). The numbers admitted to this course are limited therefore Directors of Studies should contact the Division of European Languages and Cultures' Teaching Office to confirm availability before registering students for this course.

Entry Requirements

? Pre-requisites : Successful completion of level 1 with a pass of 55% or exemption at 60% from the degree examination in Italian Language Level 1, or Italian at Standard Grade (SCE) or equivalent evidence of proficiency.

? Co-requisites : This course is not normally available to students taking degrees in the College of Humanities and Social Science.

? Prohibited combinations : IT0004

? Special Arrangements for Entry : Numbers are limited and Directors of Studies must contact the Teaching Office of the Division of European Languages and Cultures (59 George Square) before enrolling students. (Telephone : 50 4026).

? Costs : PURCHASE OF ONE TEXTBOOK AND POCKET DICTIONARY

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To give students an intermediate grasp of written and spoken Italian.

Assessment Information

Short language exercises. Class work 60% (3 written assessments); degree exam 40% (exemption possible for an average classwork mark of 60% and over). Exemption is an incentive for students to produce work of a consistently good quality throughout the year.
