| Course description | Ability to recognise and manage thoracic outlet syndrome and other arterial disorders of the upper limb, Selection of appropriate surgical/endovascular interventions. Ability to recognise and manage non-atheromatous arterial disorders of the lower limb. Apply a constant and integrated approach to critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas, information and issues; Exercise a high level of autonomy and initiative in professional activities at a level of independent surgical practice. |

Learning Outcomes 
| On completion of this course, the student will be able to: 
        Have developed a structured approach to assessment and investigation of upper limb presentations. This will include the recognition and management of thromboembolic disease, atherosclerotic disease, subclavian steal syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome and arteritis.Identify and manage non-atheromatous arterial disorders of the lower limb including a persistent sciatic artery, cystic adventitial disease and popliteal entrapment syndrome. This will be based on the approach developed when discussing occlusive arterial disease of the lower limb. Apply a consistent approach to critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas, information and issues.Exercise a high level of autonomy and initiative in professional activities at a level of independent surgical practice. |
