Learning Outcomes 
    On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
    
        - Understand, transcribe, and extract information from aural media texts in Modern Standard Arabic on a variety of topics.
 - Translate written media texts, such as news reports and opinion pieces, from Arabic into English and vice versa.
 - Understand and summarise complex media and literary texts in Modern Standard Arabic.
 - Write essays, reports, and opinion pieces in Modern Standard Arabic on a wide variety of topics, from politics and current affairs to culture, social issues, history, and the environment, with appropriate use of high-register grammatical structures such as al-maf'uul al-muTlaq, al-istithnaa', al-Haal, etc.
