ECTS Credits | 5 |

| Summary | This course will give students a good understanding of the role of wildlife host social systems, demography and behaviour and how they influence rates and routes of intra- and inter-specific disease transmission. The course will explore how these factors can affect the efficacy of, and thus inform future, disease surveillance and control |

| Course description |

    Introduction to the concepts of:
-	The role of wildlife in the epidemiology of livestock diseases
-	Fundamental concepts of disease ecology in wildlife systems
-	How wildlife population demography and structure impact on disease persistence and spread
-	Host roles in disease systems, and wildlife reservoirs of livestock pathogens
-	The importance of disease ecology in designing control and surveillance strategies
