| Summary | This course is intended to further develop students' understanding of some key topics at the heart of research in statistical methods. |  
| Course description | This module assumes student understand basic concepts in: - probability (elementary probability distributions)
 - statistics (ideas of estimation, confidence intervals, hypothesis tests)
 - calculus.
 
 In this module students will study:
 - Random effects models
 - Modern regression (generalised additive models, etc)
 - An introduction to MCMC methods
 - Case studies
