| Summary | This study of the persuasive arts of religious rhetoric charts a trajectory from secular classical Greece, through the Abrahamic faiths and the use of rhetoric in teaching and proclamation, to quasi-religious forms in modern political discourse and the iconography of late capitalist consumerism. The course offers students an opportunity to undertake the study of rhetoric from a variety of theological and sociological perspectives. |
