| On completion of this course, the student will be able to: 
         demonstrate  an understanding of the origins of the Qur'an, its structure and place in Muslim life and contemporary revisionist approachesbe able to analyse and critically evaluate select themes in the Qur'an and their meaning in devotional practice and in the intellectual history of Islamhave engaged critically with select primary and secondary sources to understand approaches to the Qur'an by classical and contemporary scholars and the tensions between scripture and society today demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver a presentation for a seminar and have participated in constructive discussion and debate with other seminar members in a respectful manner |
