| On completion of this course, the student will be able to: 
        read and understand original Chinese texts with around 600 words and relatively complex vocabulary/grammatical structures/idioms.have a good command of speed reading and extensive reading techniques like scanning and skimming.produce accurate and effective Chinese translations of English texts, with a written style that is appropriate to the context. |
