| Summary | This course introduces students to the key concepts of 'Otherness' and foreignness in transnational cinema. We will explore how ¿Otherness¿ is portrayed in the cinemas of selected conflict and post-conflict zones, and in mainstream Hollywood. The overarching goal is to think of cinema as refracting ideologies and local politics, and to approach cultural representations of foreignness and otherness from a transnational critical perspective. |
