Students will learn basic knit stitches on a single bed domestic knitting machine then progress to more complex stitches such as cable, fairisle, tuck and slip.  These skills will allow students to develop a body of knitted fabrics based on their own development work and students will learn how to think about these as fashion garments. |

    On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
    
        - RESEARCH (33.3%)
 
to research textures which can be developed into knitted fabrics suitable for fashion. 
 - PRACTICE (33.3%)
 
to develop knitted fabrics through a combination of stitch, yarn and colour. 
 - PRESENTATION (33.3%)
 
produce a knit technical notebook with samples, a development sketchbook containing research, development of ideas through sketch and knitted samples.
