Learning Outcomes 
    On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
    
        - Understand the biological characteristics of the different classes of pathogens.
 - Demonstrate an appreciation of the various strategies adopted by specific (regional) pathogens to establish infection and survive in their hosts.
 - Understand the innate and adaptive immunity, the induction of an immune response and the role of cells involved in this process.
 - Develop an understanding of the immune effector function and control of a range of infectious agents, including intra- and extra- cellular bacterial, viral pathogens, protozoa and worms.
