| Course description | This course delivered by a team of scholars with a track record of bridging scholarship and issues of practical concern in public policy and administration. The course is designed to explore policy and administrative issues which cross the boundaries of the remits of different levels of government (local, devolved, national, European), and how these boundary issues are managed. It is intended to provide students with analytical skills which will a) bring a scholarly understanding to the practical issues encountered in the internship and b) more generally equip
students with alternative perspectives on public policy and administration than those in their home countries, and in that way encourage a capacity for analysis and benchmarking of good practice. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students will
* Have an understanding of theoretical issues in the delivery of public policy and coordination of public administration in multi-level political systems
* Have an understanding of how these theoretical issues are exemplified in the case relationships between local, devolved, UK and EU government in Scotland
* Have acquired analytical skills which enable students to cross-fertilise scholarly enquiry with practical issues in public policy and administration
* Have developed and/or refreshed skills in the analysis and presentation of argument, orally and in writing |
