| Course description | The centrality of psychotherapy models in Western cultures has led to:   
the consideration of the place of psychotherapy as an agent of social change; the scientific status of psychotherapies across the life-span and the challenges to the role of the therapeutic relationship with the development of computerized CBT approaches. These issues will be considered along side emerging therapeutic paradigms.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes 
- Students will have gained an understanding of the main types of psychotherapy models in use in the UK (Cognitive, Behavioural, Interpersonal and Psychodynamic) 
 
- Students will gain a comprehensive knowledge of the efficacy of a range of psychological treatment models for emotional disorders. 
 
- Students will be introduced to recent developments in psychotherapy (older adults, schizophrenia) |
