Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes 
By the end of the course students should be able to: 
- demonstrate in coursework and examinations a wider and deeper knowledge of the structure and idiom of the Latin language; 
- demonstrate in essays and examinations an enhanced ability to locate works of Latin literature in their literary, social, historical, and intellectual contexts; 
- demonstrate in essays and examinations an ability to analyse and pass informed critical judgement on specific works and passages 
- demonstrate in coursework and examination an ability to locate and use relevant forms of primary and secondary evidence in building up a coherent and relevant argument. |

| Class work - 40%; one (2-hour) degree examination - 60%. |

This course is divided into two halves of five weeks each; week 11 is reserved for consolidation.
