| Course description | This course is designed to lead on from Persian 1 or Persian for Beginners at Honours Level and provides a further development of linguistic skills in the modern language. Grammatical structures and Persian idioms are studied at a higher level and oral skills are further developed. Selected texts in Modern Persian are studied and are supplemented by an introduction to the modern literature and culture of Iran. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| The student is expected to consolidate the skills learned in Persian 1, further developing linguistic skills in the modern language, studying grammatical structures and idioms at a higher level and further developing oral skills. The student is expected to become acquainted with some elements of modern literature and culture through the use of selected texts. |

Class work - 10% (regular written exercises and tests)
Examinations- 90% (80% of this examination mark is awarded for the written paper, and 20% for the oral) |
