| Course description | This course in spoken and written French is designed for students who have some knowledge of French (approximately Standard Grade/GCSE level) and who wish to extend it. All students take all elements of assessment including the degree examination (2 hours). |

IMPORTANT: Students must attend pairs of classes choosing ONE of:
GROUP A: Monday & Thursday 2pm - 4pm
OR
GROUP B: Tuesday 4pm - 6pm & Thursday 2pm - 4pm
Sign-up sheets will be available on LEARN (the new WebCT) after the first class meeting.
Please note: there will be a limit of 20 students per class. If a class reaches capacity, you will need to choose another group.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| Improved competence in the four main skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing French. This greater competence is intended to lead to greater confidence and to enhance the ability to learn independently. |

Regular coursework including class tests and oral assignments.
Coursework 55%; exam 45%. |
