| Course description | This course builds upon the core research training course Between Counselling and Research 1: Approaches, Issues and Debates. While the latter provides a comprehensive introduction to epistemological and philosophical issues surrounding research in counselling and psychotherapy, this course focuses on practice-based approaches to research for counselling practitioners. The course examines the debates around evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence, analysing arguments for and against the value of case studies, reflexivity and practice-based research in counselling. The course introduces students to a variety of approaches to, and methodologies employed in, practice-focused research. Students are required to refine their research proposals developed in year 1, presenting their proposed research to peers and tutors. |
