| Course description | This course encompasses a variety of topics focussing on development, degeneration and repair of the nervous system. Topics include: 
 
Neuro-and gliogenesis in the nervous system 
Animal models of human neurodegenerative diseases  
The relationship between glial development and axon survival 
Postnatal neurodevelopmental disorders: A synaptic plasticity problem? 
Stem cells in the adult nervous system 
Control of cell death 
 
Students will receive reading material to prepare them for each lecture allowing full participation of the class in discussions. A presentation and an essay question will form the course assessment.
