| Course description | Students carry out original research on an approved 12-week project in an approved laboratory. It is permissible for this to be an extension of the same project and/or in the same laboratory as Research Training 1. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| To acquire skills in design of experiments and methods and techniques as used for research using imaging approaches. To become fluent with good laboratory practice. To make appropriate quantitative and/or statistical analysis of imaging data. To analyse and present the imaging data of published work or conference proceedings. |

Assessment by supervisor (30%) Oral presentation (70%)
From 2010/11 Assessement will be:
Supervisory report on lab work (20%)Oral presentation (40%) Essay, 2500 words(40%)
