| Course description | This programme aims to ensure that practitioners have a sound anatomical and physiological basis for treatment of acute illness and injury in children, with particular focus on the recognition, assessment and management of pain. The programme aims to promote an understanding of the principles of child protection, and the legal aspects of caring for the sick or injured child. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| At completion of this course the candidate should understand the anatomy, physiology, pathological and pharmcalogical processes that are important for the acutely ill or injured child in pain. The student should have an understanding of the principles of child protection, and the legal aspects of caring for the sick or injured child. |
Assessment Information
| Formal summative written assessment will constitute 60% of the student's grade. Online assessment will incorporate a variety of activities will constitute 40% of their overall course grade and is taken to represent a formative assessment of learning throughout the programme |
