Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| The principal objectives of English Literature 1 are twofold: to enable students to become fluent and confident readers of a variety of literary forms and to develop greater self-awareness in their understanding of the reading process and of critical practice. The work of the first semester, 'Literature: Forms and Practices', concentrates on issues of genre categorisation, form, and questions historical and theoretical context; it will help students to develop close reading skills and encourage an awareness of the environments in which texts are produced. |
